Everyone is starting to become upset over their weight. And this is for good reason, recently the surgeon general named obesity as one of the main killing ailments in our country. Of course, some people go too far, developing serious issues with food which are labeled eating disorders by modern medical society. Two of the most common eating disorders are anorexia and bulimia.
Basically bulimia is when you binge eat then you vomit it all up shortly afterward. Some induce vomiting by taking drugs, while others use the tried and true method of sticking a finger down their throat.
A lot of people have started using laxatives to lose their weight. Many do not understand that by making your waste expel from you body in such a violent manner you can injure your bowels. This can lead to a thin spot which can tear the wall. Waste can pour through a torn bowel into the abdominal cavity. The infection can be brutal.
Laxative use can also cause dehydration. More water is pushed into the bowel to assist in purging the waste, but it is taken from surrounding tissues. If someone loses too much water, they may develop other health issues in the future.
If a person is so conscious of her weight that she would force herself to vomit or overdose on laxatives after virtually any meal, this person has an eating disorder.
